Batam International Charity
The Batam International Charity (BIC) is a registered charity managed by a committee of employee volunteers and senior management from McDermott offices in Indonesia and Singapore. BIC provides assistance in areas of greatest need within the local community of Batam and the Riau Islands hinterland. BIC projects include provision of basic necessities to local orphanages and destitute families, school and medical support for the poor and disaster relief when local support is not immediately available.
Who We Are
Batam International Charity (BIC) was first established in 2002 as the Batam Charity Bash (BCB). In order to reflect its legal registration as a charitable organization, Batam Charity Bash had changed its name to Batam International Charity in the year, 2008. BIC provides assistance in areas of most prominent needs in the local community of Batam, Indonesia. The provision of basic necessities, including but not limited to school support, orphanages, medical support for the less fortunate, and disaster relief.

Vission & Mission
Vision
- Together we can improve the quality of life of those in the Riau Island Province who are less fortunate. Our first priority is orphans on Batam. We can provide food, shelter, medical aid and education; help them enjoy a secure, healthy and happy childhood; and provide them with an opportunity to fulfill their potential. By our actions we can also improve the living conditions and wellbeing of the destitute and the disabled in the region.
Mission
- Assist orphanages with the refurbishment, development and expansion of their existing buildings, facilities and services.
- Facilitate the establishment of new orphanages with provision of functional buildings and support to establish appropriate facilities and services.
- Provide follow-up support to nominated orphanages to ensure maintenance of conditions, continuity of education and to help the children experience happiness and joy in their childhoods.
