Orphanage Support

In August 2015, BIC provided assistance for the first quarter to several orphanages/childcare institutions in Batam as follows:

  2. LKSA VistosKasih, with 68 children.
  3. LKSA Bethesda, with 43 children.

The assistance provided to each orphanage varied based on the specific needs of the children, such as food, daily necessities, and supporting requirements like computers for their education.

This year, BIC is more focused on providing assistance to orphanages that have obtained LKSA certification from the Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs. Currently, there are only 5 certified orphanages in Batam. Obtaining LKSA certification means that these orphanages have undergone various surveys conducted by the Ministry of Social Affairs to ensure the well-being, comfort, education, and decent living conditions for the children residing in the orphanages, as well as to prevent human trafficking, which is prevalent in Indonesia. Therefore, BIC provides assistance only to LKSA-certified orphanages to ensure that the aid reaches the intended recipients, is not misused, and can be directly utilized by the children.

In Ramadan 2015, BIC and PTMI Management shared with the children from 3 orphanages in Batam during an event called “Buka Puasa Bersama” (Iftar Gathering) held at Swiss Belhotel Harbourbay. In this event, several children from the orphanages participated by performing songs and Nasyid (Islamic vocal music) from Permate orphanage.
